Day 0 - Goal: Actually Using my Degree

In the early 2020s, there was a period where being a computer scientist appeared to have the brightest future. 6-figure jobs right out of college, countless internship and job offers. It was a time where I felt more confident than ever in my future. A few years later, and right as I'm about to be dropped into the real world, what do we see? Massive layoffs, nobody's able to get an internship, and your only hope is that just one of the hundreds of job listings before you are actually real. Some of my friends got jobs right before things got bad, but not me.

Years later, and here I am. In a job completely irrelevant to what I learned, and my degree quite literally collecting dust under my bed.

My drive for programming has mostly lived on through my passion for linux. Trying and customizing different shells and window managers. Homelabing on raspberry pis. The occasional python or shell script, but it's been a while since I've really dipped my feet back into software development. This blog will act as my way of documenting my progress and proving to myself that I can still put those skills to good use.
